Get ready, guys—I’m about to get real sentimental in this post. I’m sharing the Top 10 Reader Faves of 2015 and my plans for 2016. You’ve been warned.
2015 was such a big year for me. At the end of 2014, I made a single New Year’s Resolution: Make time for myself. It kind of sounds like a cop-out, right? I mean, you’re not wrong…I was definitely giving myself some wiggle room. It was the first time I had ever made a new year’s resolution, and it felt too overwhelming to list the 98,720,458,768,294,562,435 things I wanted to do. I didn’t write it down, but the more I repeated my resolution to myself, it resonated with me. All my life, I’ve suffered from wanting to do too many things at once. I would stack my schedule with a million things so I could dip my toe in every pool, but I never got to take a dive into the deep end. If I’m 100% honest with myself, it was probably because I was too scared to plunge head first into a single passion (talk about being a commitment-phobe!).
I figured I would start making time for myself by setting a workout schedule. As you can imagine, committing to a workout schedule in Chicago in January is much better on paper than in reality. One day, when I was consoling my resolution-breaking-self with a batch of cookies, Butter & Type popped into my head. As soon as I landed on the name, everything came into focus. And all that fear about diving into the deep end just melted away. I secretly told a few people about my idea to get feedback (you know who you are–thank you!) and then I just launched. Crazy, right? My dear friend, Hollie from Fancykins, was my blogging world spirit guide. She told me all about blogging basics, using social media, networking at blogger events, and joining Windy City Blogger Collective (WCBC). Shout out to WCBC, my amazing Chicago blogger family!
I’ve been learning with every new post–always trying to improve and tweak. Butter & Type is my little corner of the internet where I get to share what I love with world. I’ve loved testing new recipes for you guys, sharing my kitchen playlists, and talking to you! Is there anything you’d like to see more of? Do you have questions about design or baking? Should I use more animated gifs (I mean, I probably should…)? Let me know in the comments below! Need a moment to collect your thoughts? No worries. I kind of put you on the spot. Read through the Top 10 Reader Faves of 2015 for some inspiration!
So, as 2015 comes to a close and 2016 begins, Leo and I wish you all the best. May you dive into the deep end and make time for yourself–you deserve it. See you guys in 2016!
