Show Your Love: Art for the Home(sick)

I love collecting prints and posters. I think it’s safe to say that all designers love prints and posters. It’s hard for us to resist hand-drawn prints or a beautiful letterpress posters. I definitely have a weakness for artwork that represents the home because, while I love Chicago, California still has a place in my heart. So my collection is stocked full of Chicago, Illinois, Los Angeles, and California prints. Since I’m flying home tomorrow, I’ve put together a round-up of some of kick-ass studios with state- and city-themed art. Check out the links below to start building your own collection!

Armada supply co.

Armada Supply Co. is another small print studio based out of San Francisco, CA. The prints are printed on fine art paper with archival ink and can be purchased at three sizes (5×7, 8×10, and 11×14). I’m a sucker for hand-lettered type and maps, so I’m a sucker for the silhouetted maps. With prices starting at $10, you should run, not walk, to Armada Supply Co.’s Etsy or website shop to grab a print for yourself.

Finch & cotter

Finch & Cotter is based right here in Chicago and they’re cranking out some lovely home decor pieces. My favorites are the custom map prints (pictured below). These prints are 11×14 archival prints that are easy to frame. You can choose any 2 colors you want, and up to 3 locations for your custom piece. You can purchase these $18 prints through Etsy or the site’s shop.

Constellation & co.

Constellation & Co. is a kick-ass letterpress studio based out of Seattle. They design prints and cards with lovely typographic sentiments, including the You Are Home To Me print. The great thing about these designs is that they’re printed on vintage atlas pages AND you can request that a specific state be included in the background! You can purchase one of these beauties through Etsy or the site’s shop.

1canoe2 is a Missouri-based letterpress studio that specializes in hand-illustrated and lettered prints, home goods, and fabrics. While I recommend that you check out their entire stock, don’t forget to look through their State Prints. The sweet little State Prints with short sayings measure at 5×7 and only cost $16—how can you resist? You can purchase through Etsy or the site’s shop.

The colorful state prints have state-specific illustrations scattered throughout the print that will make you smile. The state prints are 8×10 and only cost $26 on Etsy or the site’s shop.

Side note, I’ve had See You Again by Wiz Khalifa featuring Charlie Puth on repeat this week. It’s a tribute song for Paul Walker from the Furious 7 and it definitely made me cry. RIP Paul Walker. Cue all the tears.
